Sometimes we need to start fresh no matter how many times we have tried before.

tell me if this sounds familiar…

You're stronger than you think you are. But if you're anything like me, you just want someone to tell you what works.

If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance that something out there can bring you far greater personal fulfillment than what you’re experiencing right now.

Yet, like me, you might find yourself bogged down by the details:
Unfortunately, most people aren’t taught how to navigate suffering and the inevitable pains we will face in our human experience. We wrestle with our minds and fall into unhelpful behaviors and destructive relationships. We often view life in black and white, in good or bad terms. We slip into procrastination, perfectionism and chasing happiness. We lose touch with who we are and how to fully live in the “real” world.
But here’s the good news: There is a way to drop the struggle and build happiness. And you do it one step at a time.

“The destiny of every walking man is to immerse himself in the panorama surrounding him, to the point of becoming one with it and, ultimately, to vanish.”

– Federico Castigliano

I’ve been working in the film and TV industry for years—a world that demands long hours, relentless deadlines, and constant creativity on command.

Put down the trail mix! This is the most valuable thing I am going to tell you.

Happiness isn’t something we possess, feel, or are or are not. Happiness is something we do.

It’s dawn on Day 2 of my walk on the Camino de Santiago. I had nearly 600 miles ahead of me. My brain came up with a million scenarios about how this could go. Could I really walk across a country? Would walking take away the grief, trauma and suffering I had been experiencing? This is not Kilimanjaro, Lacy; get over yourself; there are wine fountains. My brain fired up all the what-ifs and nasties. I knew I would have to put my coaching skills into practice along the way; I didn’t think it would be so soon. So, despite my swirling doubts and overwhelming emotions, I shifted into bringing myself back to what was happening around me in real-time. I looked at the mist settling down into the village I had walked from the day before. I listened to the sound of the crushed earth beneath my feet. I felt the crisp mountain air rush deep into my lungs. I re-engaged with life as it was unfolding before me. A new, quieter voice said: This is the person I am. The one who craves adventure, seeking and exploring. I’m the person who walks across a country spontaneously. And I am here to stay.

I took step number 1.

And 1,388,759 more.

You don't start by walking 1M steps. You start by walking 1.

Choice by choice, action by action, we are either moving toward the life we want for ourselves and others or away from it. Although the journey can be long and hard, the tools we use to navigate it can be simple and organic.

As humans, our brains are wired to stay safe, so we compare ourselves to others to feel accepted, worry, and control to protect ourselves from danger and acquire more things to feel like we have enough or are enough. These protective behaviors intensify due to social media, an overwhelming amount of responsibility at home and work, and the hectic nature of modern life. We experience an onslaught of uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, emotions, memories, or sensations that keep us stuck and doing things that take us farther away from the person we want to be.

What walking did for me on the Camino and what it can do for you is get you back to a place where you can be more present and engaged with your life.

My process is both evidence-based and intuitive, and this combination will get you out of survival and protection mode and engaged with what really matters. In other words, you behave like the person you want to be for yourself and others, and in doing so, you get much more satisfaction and meaning out of your life. You can build up to this by doing what I call skills-based living. It’s a simple framework to help you when life feels more complex and challenging.

And we do this one step at a time so everything feels doable and the changes are long lasting.

I’m singing this out loud on the trail 🎶

This is the year that you get to stop struggling and start living.

Before my first long distance walk, I sought to purge myself of distress, find forgiveness, and confront my pain. About midway, a profound shift occurred. It ceased to be about healing, letting go or making things better; instead, it became about cafe chats, feeling strength in my legs and magical sunrises. I returned to the person I knew I always was. I crossed the finish line feeling humbled and grateful. I was fully alive. It was a good thing.

"And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul"

– John Muir

my why

I walk because it completely changed the trajectory of my life. It allowed me to confront my struggles on all levels – mind, body and soul. I reconnected with who I wanted to be and with the world around me.

MY favorite trail snacks:

Veggies & Fruits in whole form especially giant red peppers, pepino cucumbers and pears!

YOU CAN FIND ME:

Walking as a form of transportation to my fave cafe, on a plane to my next walking trip, creating new tarot journals and cards.

daily walking rituals

Waking up and saying ‘thank you’, AM Tea, most of the walk is digital free, walk a min of 3 miles

walking is not ABOUT

Engaging in rumination, adding more pressure to myself, distance and stats over being where I am in the present moment
